The fast of Karva Chauth is observed every year on the Chaturthi date of Kartik month. In 2024, Karva Chauth will be celebrated on October 20.

Significance Of Karva Chauth

The greatest significance of Karva Chauth is the fast observed for the long life and good health of the husband. On this day, women fast without water and food for the whole day and break the fast in the evening after seeing the moon. Origin And Traditions Of The Fast

The tradition of Karva Chauth is very old and many mythological stories are associated with it. On this day, women dress up specially and wear their wedding attire or beautiful sarees. Applying mehendi and doing solah shringar is an important part of this fast. Women eat sargi (morning meal) given by their mother-in-law before sunrise and then fast for the whole day.

Due to this, her husband died, but Veeravati pleased Yamraj with her devotion and revitalized her husband.

Process Of Eeeing The Moon And Breaking The Fast

When the moon appears at night, women look at the moon through a sieve and look at the husband’s face. After this, the husband completes the process of breaking the fast by giving water to his wife. After this holy ritual, women eat food.
